NZOMETIAH NERVIS TETSOP - CAMEROON

Nzometiah Nervis Tetsop is a 23-year-old tech innovator and community builder from Cameroon He utilizes technology to lead positive change in his community and has impacted almost 3,000 students through workshops and seminars on career orientation and opportunities in information technology He founded NERVTEK with the vision to create a tech ecosystem for innovation and boosting technological advancement. The Nervtek Community currently has 2,000+ young leaders. He organized an innovation challenge where 20,000 young tech entrepreneurs and innovators all over the nation designed solutions for sectors like Transport, Education, Agriculture, Fintech, Health, etc Several useful innovations were submitted and the top three winners each got a cash prize of $2,000. Necessitated by the COVID lockdown, Nervis and his team designed various solutions ranging from a hands-free wash basin, to an Automatic Water dispenser and robot sprayer Nervis’ organization empowers girls in technology through Girls in Technology Cameroon STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) induction workshop that trained 150 school girls. Furthermore, he organizes periodic training on robotics and coding, with 500 students in each session Nervis made headlines for building a 3D printer from electronic waste. The project won first prize at the national competition for the best ICT projects and earned a Presidential Award, with a hefty cash prize He has been featured as guest speaker on television and radio networks, an avenue he uses to enlighten approximately 6 million young people on the importance of ICT and innovation and its impact on society In response to the prolonged closure of schools, Nervis led a 2-month Tech Camp, where he trained 60 children between ages 7 and 17 in ICT, Computer programming, Robotics, critical thinking, entrepreneurship, and leadership. This resulted in 10 innovations from over 30 kids Following the spate of insurgencies in the Southwestern Cameroon, Nervis advocates for the return of the children to school and funded tuition for 100 internally displaced children with grants obtained from his awards. He also financed a food drive project to feed 40 orphans and distributed free copies of christian materials to inspire them. He also organized free ICT classes for internally displaced children He organized a one-week intensive training program in the eastern region of the country, a place noted for a low literacy rates. During this program, he trained, mentored, and inspired about 700 students from three high schools in robotics and electronics Nervis has also inspired many others to take on the responsibility of leadership and innovation. Indeed, he is a true leader who embodies the concept of leadership for positive change
