The Higher Life Conferences with Pastor Chris are a call to "higher thoughts, higher levels of operation, greater blessings, increased grace" in every part of the world where these Word-conferences are hosted, and the city of Benin in Edo State, Nigeria, is no different.
It was a 3-day fellowship with the Word and God's Spirit that will leave hundreds of thousands transformed and impress an indelible mark on the soul of the city. Colorful music, dance, spoken word and other ministrations in various arts, presented by the LoveWorld Music and Arts Ministry, opened the program, helping congregants raise their faith for higher expectations.
"There’s a higher life in Christ with a different way of thinking, a different language of expression," Pastor Chris said to congregants gathered at the LoveWorld Crusade Grounds in Benin City on the opening night of the ongoing 3-day Higher Life Conference.
The man of God, Reverend (Dr.) Chris Oyakhilome, highlighted the crippling effect of the more popular way of thinking and language of expression that says "I cannot". Again, with so much power, he reminded God's people of Philippians 4:13 where Paul boldly declares, "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me!".
Pastor Chris laid emphasis on the greatness of the man, Jesus. "Think about the miracles He did, the words He spoke, the sincerity of His heart, the love with which He dealt with every man," Pastor Chris said to thousands present at the LoveWorld Crusade Grounds.
Going even further, the man of God revealed to the mammoth crowd that the suffering of the Messiah on the cross was not the major price that was paid for our sins to be washed away. "There have been other human beings that suffered more than He suffered on the cross," Pastor said, going on to unveil that, "when the Bible talks about the death of Jesus, its not dealing primarily with His physical death, because the man [Jesus] could not have died until He died spiritually first!”
Reading Romans 4:25 at the second session of the Higher Life Conference in Benin City, Nigeria, Pastor Chris made an important distinction between redemption and recreation, the former for the Jews and the latter for the Christian.
Christianity does not begin at the cross. Christianity does not begin at the grave. Christianity starts at the resurrection," the man of God said, shining light on the truth that the Christian does not require a redemption, being a brand new person. "When you become a Christian, you receive a new life, the resurrection life," he said.
The implications of this divine truth are far-reaching, paralyzing the monotony of religion and empowering every believer in Christ with the power of a resurrected life. Best said by Pastor Chris, "if you will believe the life that Jesus has given you, you will discover that the eternal life, [which] is in your spirit, has supplanted the life with which you were born of your father and mother!"
What a refreshing insight into God's eternal plan for mankind!
"That same Word that was tabernacled in the Jewish body of a man named Jesus [is] the same Word by which you were born again," the BLW President boldly declared to the hearing of the congregation at the LoveWorld Crusade Grounds, Benin city, at the conference's final session.
To the amazement of many in the congregation, Pastor Chris ascended to higher realms of revelation, admonishing them; "don’t you ever say ‘I’m a human being’," he said, as the eyes that intently looked at him revealed a deep unsatisfied hunger for God's truths in everyone present.
"When you were born again, your human life was supplanted by the divine life of Almighty God," Pastor Chris said, adding that "[he] never [addresses himself] as a human being, because [he's] born of God."
